Kitchen Hearths

For the Plumbbob Inn Contest I attempted to recreate a kitchen that I had seen pictures of during my research. Period kitchens would often have multiple fireplaces of variable sizes dedicated to specific purposes. They would be built into the walls and made out of brick or stone and sometimes covered with plaster.

So, here are two new meshes for you to create your own period kitchen too. They will both fit into wall alcoves so they will appear to be built into the room. Or you can use them each separately. Each comes with 10 recolors along with matching wallpapers. A Collection File is also included.

Kitchen Hearth
The Kitchen Hearth is a functional stove and oven. Eva's Cauldron Stove can be added to the open area effectively giving you two functional stoves at one time. Also, use the Invisible Fireplace for added ambiance. Found in the catalog under appliances -> stoves.

Large Hearth
The Large Hearth is a decorative fireplace. It is 4-tiles wide and has been cloned on a painting. I did this since it is so large that you cannot see around it during game play. As a painting it will go down with walls and not interfere with any objects that you put into the fireplace. Use with the Invisible Fireplace if you would like it to function. Found in the catalog under appliances -> miscellaneous.

Chamber Pot and Bowl Sink

A set of functional items to be used as an alternative to modern plumbing in themed hoods.

Chamber Pot
The pot mesh was combined with the castaway toilet bush to provide a functional chamberpot that is more appropriate for historical hoods.
  • Sims will squat to use the pot.
  • No dirty state/no breakage
  • May be used diagonally
  • Make certain there is enough room for your Sim to walk around the pot to use it; do not place it directly against a wall
  • Men will not use this pot from a standing position; they will only use it when their bladder is about half full.
  • There are three pots for different age groups:
    1. Toddler
    2. Children
    3. Teen through Elder
  • The Adult Chamber Pot is the master for all textures; You must have it in the game for the other pots to work.
  • Default color is white; there are 9 more recolors included.
Bowl Sink
The bowl sink has been extracted and altered from the modern sink in the Kitchens & Bath stuff pack. It was then cloned on the expensive pedestal sink.
  • The sink may be placed on any table or end table using cheats.
  • The bowl has all the functionality of a regular sink: hand wash, drink, bathe infant, wash dishes, sponge bath, plus the additional actions if a medicine cabinet is placed above it.
  • The default color is white: there are 9 more recolors included and they coordinate with the chamber pot.
  • Occassionally water may appear outside the sink, such as during the sink filling up. The animations have not been altered from the original sink, so this is due to maxis/ea games error. [I checked and it does happen on the Kitchen & Bath Sink, but so infrequently that I find it a non-issue personally].
Notes:
-Just like regular toilets and sinks, these items are not placeable on shelves.
-You will need at least one expansion from Pets or later installed for these items to work in your game (meaning you need one of the following: Pets, Seasons, Bon Voyage, Freetime or Apartment Life)

Baker's Oven

This new mesh oven is a remix of the medieval oven at Sims Design Avenue. It has an open area underneath for cooking directly on the fire. The counter area functions as a stove. The upper oven is decorative only and by using omsps it can be filled with decorative or real foods. The upper oven door opens or closes by selecting the recolor. Also, it has a functional clean/dirty state. There are 10 recolors of the oven (with both open/closed oven door). I suggest using the Invisible Fireplace with Logs along with the oven.

Smart Milk Replacement & Recolors

Rebecca at SimSafe2 has created a default replacement of the Smart Milk Machine that looks like a pot, which seems more appropriate for a medieval or themed game. Since the pot only came in one color (black), here are 4 more recolors: copper, cast iron, wooden barrel and stoneware. Rebecca's Smart Milk mesh is included with the recolors. Put all files into your Sims2->Downloads folder.

As for baby bottles - Choose between three recolors of the original game bottle:

OR, select to use Rebecca's bottle replacement:

*Note that each of the bottles (whether a recolor of the game bottle or Rebecca's bottle) are all default replacement items. Place only one bottle package in your Sims2->Downloads folder to use.
